OpenStreetMap is an open source service that allows users to contribute (Tag) or share content about places and their locations on a Geo-Specific map of the world. The process is very simple, you can either create an account or just contribute by adding a note and letting other users expand on such note. After creating my account I went through the tutorial which talked about paths, ways , points and areas. I then proceeded to find Talbot campus by typing ‘Bournemouth University Talbot Campus’ on the search bar and added Starbucks to the map in Poole House. It’s not surprising that such sites are becoming more and more popular as time goes on and sites likes Google maps are becoming a thing of the past.
Overall the site is very easy to use and once you contribute you can’t help but feel all warm and cozy inside as you know deep inside that you’re making the world a better more informed place.
